Effect of recycled tyre steel fiber on flexural toughness, residual strength, and chloride permeability of high-performance concrete (HPC)

Babar Ali et al.

Summary: Recycled tyre steel fiber (RSF) can be used as a fiber reinforcement to improve the ductility of high-performance concrete (HPC). In comparison with manufactured steel fiber (MSF), RSF shows higher effectiveness in terms of splitting-tensile and flexural-tensile strength, while the chloride permeability of RSF-reinforced concrete is similar to that of MSF-reinforced concrete.

Chloride ion permeability improvement of recycled aggregate concrete using pretreated recycled aggregates by silica fume slurry

Hossein Sasanipour et al.

Summary: The study found that using pretreated recycled aggregates significantly improved durability properties of concrete mixes, especially in terms of chloride ion penetration and electrical resistance. SEM images showed that pretreated RCAs had a significant impact on improving the interface transition zone, resulting in lower permeability and higher electrical resistance of specimens.

Combined effects of nano-silica and silica fume on the mechanical behavior of recycled aggregate concrete

Tang Yunchao et al.

Summary: The combination of silica fume and nano-silica as additives improves the performance of recycled aggregate concrete in both early and later stages. These additives exhibit good pozzolanic activity, enhancing the secondary hydration reaction with calcium hydroxide to improve the properties of the interface transition zone.
