High-Performance Tin-Lead Mixed-Perovskite Solar Cells with Vertical Compositional Gradient

Jiupeng Cao et al.

Summary: Lead-tin mixed perovskite materials have potential in approaching the Shockley-Queisser limit in solar cells, but their efficiency and stability need further improvement. By introducing 4-hydrazinobenzoic acid and SnF2 as additives, along with controlling antisolvent temperature to form a vertical Pb/Sn compositional gradient in perovskite films, graded vertical heterojunctions can be constructed to enhance efficiency and stability of solar cells. Under optimal conditions, the lead-tin mixed perovskite solar cells show up to 22% power conversion efficiency and excellent stability.

Self-woven monolayer polyionic mesh to achieve highly efficient and stable inverted perovskite solar cells

Cunyun Xu et al.

Summary: PEDOT:PSS is commonly used in inverted perovskite solar cells for its simple preparation process, high stability, and light transmittance. A self-woven deposition method has been proposed to prepare a pinhole-free monolayer PEDOT:PSS mesh, which significantly boosts the power conversion efficiency of the device. The high performance is attributed to improved light absorption and energy-level alignment, as well as enhanced hole extraction efficiency.

All-perovskite tandem solar cells with improved grain surface passivation

Renxing Lin et al.

Summary: Researchers have developed ammonium-cation-passivated Pb-Sn perovskites with long diffusion lengths, enabling high-efficiency all-perovskite tandem solar cells. By enhancing the adsorption of the passivator using a stronger surface-passivator interaction, the carrier diffusion length within Pb-Sn perovskites is doubled, resulting in an efficiency of over 22%. The certified efficiency of 26.4% achieved in the all-perovskite tandem solar cells exceeds that of the best-performing single-junction perovskite solar cells.

Tin-Lead Perovskite Solar Cells Fabricated on Hole Selective Monolayers

Gaurav Kapil et al.

Summary: According to research, the power conversion efficiency of tin-lead perovskite solar cells can be improved by using specific hole transport layers. By using substances such as 2PACz and MPA, comparable performance to traditional PEDOT:PSS can be achieved. Experimental results showed that coabsorption of 2PACz and MPA on the transparent conducting oxide layer can further enhance the performance of tin-lead perovskite solar cells.

Tin-Lead Perovskite Fabricated via Ethylenediamine Interlayer Guides to the Solar Cell Efficiency of 21.74%

Gaurav Kapil et al.

Summary: Post-treatment with a Lewis base, ethylenediamine, transforms the p-type surface of perovskite solar cells to n-type, forming a graded band structure and increasing the Voc significantly. Ethylenediamine reduces defect density by screening against oxygen and bonding with undercoordinated Sn on the surface. The study also examines the role of Br anion inclusion in reducing lattice strain and Urbach energy in the perovskite lattice.

Summary: In this study, a green co-antisolvent of propyl acetate was successfully used to adjust the degree of supersaturation in diethyl ether, enabling pinhole-free, smooth, and uniform deposition of high-quality perovskite thin films for efficient perovskite solar cells. By carefully controlling the polarity of the antisolvents, the deposited perovskite film exhibited higher electron mobility and suppressed defect density, leading to a high power conversion efficiency and impressive fill factor in the PSCs. This approach provides a greener path towards sustainability and scalability of the emerging PSC technology.
