They also faced difficulties in communication, translated versions of the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale, and cultural implications of postpartum depression.

Summary: The study found that 30.0% of women in the Östergötland county of Sweden were not offered postpartum depression screening during postpartum follow-up. Women born outside of Sweden and those reporting poor self-rated health were at increased risk of not being offered screening. Strategies to improve universal screening and increase awareness among healthcare providers of the risk factors for not screening are important for early detection and support for postpartum depression.
