Color Demosaicing of RGBW Color Filter Array Based on Laplacian Pyramid

Kyeonghoon Jeong et al.

Summary: In this paper, we propose a new color demosaicing algorithm using a Laplacian pyramid for RGBW CFAs. The algorithm estimates the red, green, and blue channels by interpolating the white channel, and demonstrates superior performance in the experiments.

Inverse design enables large-scale high-performance meta-optics reshaping virtual reality

Zhaoyi Li et al.

Summary: In this study, the authors introduce a general inverse-design framework for large-area 3D meta-optics with engineered focusing. The combination of such meta-optics with a laser-illuminated micro-LCD paves the way for future virtual reality platforms. The experiments demonstrate aberration-corrected metalenses working in the visible with high numerical aperture, poly-chromatic focusing, and large diameter up to the centimeter scale.

Nanophotonic color splitters for high-efficiency imaging

Eric Johlin

Summary: A new type of splitter design and performance has been studied, which can split and redirect light into spatially separated pixels, improving photon transmission efficiency. By directly printing the splitter made from a single material on top of a sensor surface, it can serve as a drop-in replacement for color filters.
