Familial Hypercholesterolemia-Risk-Score: A New Score Predicting Cardiovascular Events and Cardiovascular Mortality in Familial Hypercholesterolemia

Martine Paquette et al.

Summary: The FH-Risk-Score is a more accurate predictor of future ASCVD events than the SAFEHEART-RE, providing personalized cardiovascular risk assessment and treatment for patients with FH. Future studies are needed to validate its performance in different ethnic groups.

Clinical Implications of Monogenic Versus Polygenic Hypercholesterolemia: Long-Term Response to Treatment, Coronary Atherosclerosis Burden, and Cardiovascular Events

Laura D'Erasmo et al.

Summary: Familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) may be caused by deleterious monogenic variants or polygenic causes. Research shows that patients with monogenic FH have poorer response to lipid-lowering therapy, increased burden of coronary artery calcification, and higher risk for atherosclerotic-related events compared to those with polygenic or genetically undetermined FH. Genetic testing is helpful in providing important prognostic information.
