Evaluation of perovskite oxides LnBaCo2O5+δ (Ln = La, Pr, Nd and Sm) as cathode materials for IT-SOFC

Shenglin Wang et al.

Summary: The research systematically investigates the structural characterization, surface state, and electrochemical performance of LnBaCo2O5+6 (LnBC) perovskite cathode for intermediate-temperature solid oxide fuel cells. It is found that the structural symmetry distorts with the reduced ionic radius, leading to a decrease in electrical conductivity and oxygen active sites on the surface. The electrochemical performance of LnBC electrode decreases with the decreasing Ln3+ ionic radius due to increased Ln?O bond energy and reduced thermal expansion coefficients.
