Alleviation effects of grape seed proanthocyanidin extract on inflammation and oxidative stress in a d-galactose-induced aging mouse model by modulating the gut microbiota

Kangliang Sheng et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the effect of grape seed proanthocyanidin extract (GSPE) on aging and found that GSPE can improve antioxidant capacity and reduce inflammation levels. The study also discovered that GSPE administration can affect the gut microbiota composition and inhibit the NLRP3 inflammasome signaling pathway, providing a novel strategy for alleviating aging-induced alterations.

Antioxidant and Polyphenol-Rich Ethanolic Extract of Rubia tinctorum L. Prevents Urolithiasis in an Ethylene Glycol Experimental Model in Rats

Fatima Zahra Marhoume et al.

Summary: The plant extract Rubia tinctorum has been found to prevent the formation of kidney stones in experimental studies, demonstrating antioxidant effects and polyphenol composition that inhibit the deposition of calcium oxalate in urine. Co-administration of Rubia tinctorum extracts prevents changes in serum and urinary biochemical markers and protects kidney tissue damage associated with urolithiasis. The ethanolic extract of Rubia tinctorum shows superior preventive effects compared to the ethyl acetate extract, attributed to its stronger antioxidant effect due to a higher content of polyphenols.

Protective effect of apigenin on ethylene glycol-induced urolithiasis via attenuating oxidative stress and inflammatory parameters in adult male Wistar rats

Atefeh Azimi et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that apigenin reduced urinary stone formation, decreased malondialdehyde generation, and enhanced antioxidant enzyme activities in ethylene glycol-induced urolithiatic rats. The findings were supported by histopathological examinations, indicating a positive role of apigenin in reducing kidney damage in male Wistar rats.
