Efficient Formation of Size-Selected Clusters upon Pickup of Dopants into Multiply Charged Helium Droplets

Siegfried Kollotzek et al.

Summary: Researchers have proposed a novel method to breed size-selected clusters by adsorbing dopants into multiply charged helium nanodroplets. The experimental data is in agreement with the simulation results, providing a simple explanation for the emergence of size distributions that are narrower than Poisson.

Multiply Charged Helium Droplet Anions

Felix Laimer et al.

Summary: This study reports the detection of multiply charged helium droplet anions for the first time, achieved by ionizing superfluid helium droplets with low energy electrons. The droplets containing up to five negative charges were found to have appearance sizes orders of magnitude larger than cationic droplets, with dianions starting at 4 million He atoms. Droplets with He^(-) charge carriers exhibit signs of metastability, which are quenched by the pickup of water molecules.

Coinage metal clusters: From superatom chemistry to genetic materials

Baoqi Yin et al.

Summary: The study of metal nanoclusters, especially those of coinage groups, has attracted attention due to the ability to achieve atomic-level precision through experimental and theoretical methods, revealing mechanisms in various nano-catalysts and functional materials. Ligand-protected metal nanoclusters exhibit high catalytic activity and unique selectivity in catalytic reactions, providing information on surface charge states and metal-support interactions.

Submersion of rubidium clusters in helium nanodroplets

Arne Schiller et al.

Summary: Experimental study on rubidium cluster submersion in helium droplets shows that clusters undergo a gradual submersion transition similar to potassium, ultimately leading to full submersion of clusters larger than around 100 Rb atoms, consistent with previous theoretical and experimental studies.

IR Spectroscopic Characterization of H2 Adsorption on Cationic Cun+ (n=4-7) Clusters

Olga Lushchikova et al.

Summary: IR spectra of cationic copper clusters Cu-n(+) (n = 4-7) complexed with hydrogen molecules were recorded via IR multiple-photon dissociation (IRMPD) spectroscopy. The interaction of hydrogen with the copper clusters strongly depends on their size, leading to different reactions for different cluster structures.
