Urinary metals and maternal circulating extracellular vesicle microRNA in the MADRES pregnancy cohort

Caitlin G. Howe et al.

Summary: The study investigated the association between maternal circulating EV miRNA and multiple metal exposures during pregnancy. In early pregnancy, 35 miRNA were associated with at least one metal, while a negative association between cobalt and miR-150-5p remained statistically significant in late pregnancy. Eight miRNA were associated with barium, mercury, and thallium in early pregnancy, with predicted target genes enriched in pathways important for placental development.

MiR-185-5p suppresses acute myeloid leukemia by inhibiting GPX1

Bo Pang et al.

Summary: The levels of miR-185-5p and GPX1 were found to be significantly altered in AML patients. Upregulation of miR-185-5p restricted proliferation and invasion of AML cells, while overexpression of GPX1 enhanced their growth.

Plasma Hsp90 levels in patients with systemic sclerosis and relation to lung and skin involvement: a cross-sectional and longitudinal study

Hana Storkanova et al.

Summary: According to the study, plasma levels of Hsp90 are increased in patients with systemic sclerosis compared to healthy controls, and are associated with increased inflammatory activity, worsened lung function, and extent of skin involvement in patients with diffuse cutaneous systemic sclerosis. In patients with systemic sclerosis-associated interstitial lung disease treated with cyclophosphamide, baseline Hsp90 levels can predict changes in DLCO over 12 months of therapy.

Construction of a microRNA-mRNA Regulatory Network in De Novo Cytogenetically Normal Acute Myeloid Leukemia Patients

Ezalia Esa et al.

Summary: The study explored novel miRNA-mRNA interactions in CN-AML by integrating miRNA and mRNA profiles. Network analysis revealed a cluster of miRNAs targeting mRNAs, with five miRNAs identified as potentially playing a key role in regulating CN-AML. Three novel interactions were predicted to be responsible for regulating myeloid cell differentiation in CN-AML.

Separation, characterization, and standardization of extracellular vesicles for drug delivery applications

Dominik Buschmann et al.

Summary: EVs are membrane nanovesicles secreted from living cells which have potential therapeutic activity and are being explored as drug delivery vehicles in preclinical investigations and early clinical trials. However, progress in EV-based drug delivery is hindered by heterogeneity of sample types and methods, as well as a persistent lack of standardization, validation, and comprehensive reporting.

Proteomic analysis and microRNA expression profiling of plasma-derived exosomes in primary immune thrombocytopenia

Yunqi Sun et al.

Summary: The study identified specific protein and miRNA signatures in exosomes derived from plasma of ITP patients, which distinguish ITP from healthy controls. Further validation in larger independent ITP cohorts is required to uncover the potential pathophysiological significance of circulating exosomes in ITP.
