Gadd45g is required for timely Sry expression independently of RSPO1 activity

Nick Warr et al.

Summary: In mammals, the early expression of Sry, a pro-testis gene, is dependent on the protein GADD45g. This study demonstrates that Gadd45g is essential for timely expression of Sry in the XY gonads, independently of the RSPO1-mediated WNT signaling. The zygosity of the pro-ovarian gene Rspo1 plays a critical role in the degree of gonadal sex reversal, while the absence of Gadd45g can be rescued by overexpression of Sry in the sex-reversed embryos.
