The crystal structure and luminescence properties of the first lithium oxonitridolithosilicate Li3SiNO2:Eu2+

Summary: The compound Li3SiNO2:Eu2+ was synthesized using high temperature solid-state reactions in weld shut tantalum ampules, and its crystal structure was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. It consists of two different layers arranged alternately along the crystallographic a-axis, and can be doped with Eu2+ activator ion to exhibit broad band emission at λ(max) = 601 nm (fwhm = 90 nm) in luminescence spectroscopy of single-crystals.
