Manganese-Catalyzed Chemoselective Hydrosilylation of Nitroarenes: Sustainable Route to Aromatic Amines

Rakesh R. Behera et al.

Summary: Efficient catalytic hydrosilylation of nitroarenes to form aromatic amines under solvent-free conditions using a well-defined manganese(II)-NNO pincer complex with low catalyst loading is reported. The reaction offers a sustainable alternative to classical hydrogenation and has potential utility in the preparation of commercial drug molecules.

Fe-Catalyzed Anaerobic Mukaiyama-Type Hydration of Alkenes using Nitroarenes

Anup Bhunia et al.

Summary: This study reports a highly diastereoselective Fe-catalyzed anaerobic Markovnikov-selective hydration of alkenes using nitroarenes as oxygenation reagents. The method features excellent Markovnikov-selectivity, large functional group tolerance, and applicability for late-stage chemical functionalization. The anaerobic protocol outperforms existing hydration methodology in terms of reaction efficiency and selectivity.

Selective Reduction of Nitroarenes to Arylamines by the Cooperative Action of Methylhydrazine and a Tris(N-heterocyclic thioamidate) Cobalt(III) Complex

Dimitris I. Ioannou et al.

Summary: A new study reports an efficient catalytic protocol using methylhydrazine as a reducing agent and tris(N-heterocyclic thioamidate) Co(III) complex as a catalyst to selectively reduce nitroarenes to arylamines with high yields and chemoselectivity. Preliminary investigations suggest a cooperative action of methylhydrazine and the catalyst through a coordination activation pathway, leading to the formation of a reduced cobalt species responsible for the catalytic transformation.

Chemoselective Hydrogenation of Nitroarenes Using an Air-Stable Base-Metal Catalyst

Viktoriia Zubar et al.

Summary: A method using a single base-metal catalyst to reduce nitroarenes and azobenzenes under relatively mild conditions has been successfully achieved. This method tolerates a wide range of functional groups and provides high yields of the desired products. Mechanistic studies suggest that the reaction proceeds through bifunctional activation involving metal-ligand cooperative catalysis.

A Concise Route to Cyclic Amines from Nitroarenes and Ketoacids under Iron-Catalyzed Hydrosilylation Conditions

Jiajun Wu et al.

Summary: By starting from nitroarenes and using hydrosilylation conditions with a well-defined N-heterocyclic carbene iron(0) catalyst, aniline derivatives were successfully produced in moderate to high yields. Furthermore, a selective synthesis of cyclic amines such as pyrrolidines, piperidines, and azepanes was achieved from levulinic acid, 1,5- and 1,6-keto acids, respectively, with isolated yields up to 69% under visible light irradiation and thermal conditions.
