Grain size enlargement and controlled crystal growth by formamidinium chloride additive-added ° ?-CsPbI2Br thin films for stable inorganic perovskite solar cells

Jyoti V. Patil et al.

Summary: Replacing the organic cation with inorganic cation in cesium-based perovskite has attracted more attention in halide perovskite solar cells due to their stability and efficiency. In this study, the addition of formamidinium chloride (FACl) was proposed as a method to enhance the stability and efficiency of y-CsPbI2Br-based inorganic perovskite solar cells. The FACl additive played a significant role in modifying the morphology and crystal growth of the perovskite phase, resulting in high-quality perovskite thin films with reduced charge recombination. The optimized FACl additive-added y-CsPbI2Br-based device demonstrated a higher PCE compared to the bare y-CsPbI2Br-based device, and the FACl additive-based devices showed high thermal stability.

A thioacetamide additive-based hybrid (MA0.5FA0.5)PbI3 perovskite solar cells crossing 21 % efficiency with excellent long term stability

Jyoti V. Patil et al.

Summary: An additive in hybrid perovskite has been found to play a crucial role in enhancing the power conversion efficiency, stability, and reproducibility of perovskite solar cells. By controlling the ratio of methylammonium and formamidinium and adding thioacetamide, the morphology of the perovskite composition can be tuned to achieve highly crystalline thin films with large grain size and smooth surface. The optimized composition and additive result in superior interaction between the perovskite material and the electron transport layer, leading to high efficiency and stability.

Surface Engineering of Ambient-Air-Processed Cesium Lead Triiodide Layers for Efficient Solar Cells

So Me Yoon et al.

Summary: Cesium lead triiodide (CsPbI3) has a desirable band gap and high thermal stability, but its power conversion efficiency (PCE) is lower than that of organic cation-based halide perovskites with identical band gaps. The PCE of CsPbI3 solar cells is mainly governed by the surface morphology and defect passivation of its thin films.

Novel ytterbium-doped CsPbI2Br thin-films-based inorganic perovskite solar cells toward improved phase stability

Jyoti Patil et al.

Summary: In this study, ytterbium (Yb2+) was used as a dopant in CsPbI2Br inorganic perovskite thin film to stabilize its black phase, resulting in improved morphology and crystal growth. The CsPb0.97Yb0.03I2Br-based champion device showed the highest power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 15.41% for a small area and 14.04% for a large area. Detailed photovoltaic analysis attributed the enhanced PCE to suppressed charge recombination and better film quality. Additionally, the champion CsPb0.97Yb0.03I2Br device maintained >85% initial efficiency after 280 hours of thermal annealing at 85 degrees C.
