Influence of Wallach's Rule on Chiral AIE Systems and Its Application in Cryptographic Information Storage

Qiu Chen Peng et al.

Summary: Aggregation-induced emission luminogens (AIEgens) exhibit excellent luminescence properties in the aggregated state. This study explores the impact of Wallach's rule on the luminescence properties of chiral AIEgens and discovers that racemic AIEgens exhibit enhanced emission compared to their homochiral counterparts. A novel single-molecule cryptographic information storage system was also constructed based on this finding.

Pentacyclic Nano-Trefoil

Huiyeong Ju et al.

Summary: The tetra-armed cyclen compound bearing specific groups was prepared and characterized along with its Ag+ complexes. These complexes were found to undergo reversible structural transformations between different ratios of Ag+ / 1, and could selectively encapsulate benzene and [D6]benzene in the solid-state. The stability of the benzene-included structures was attributed to C-H···F-C interactions between the benzene molecule and the ligand molecule.

Silver in the Center Enhances Room-Temperature Phosphorescence of a Platinum Sub-nanocluster by 18 Times

Yuki Akanuma et al.

Summary: Controversy surrounds the roles of metal core and shell in photoluminescence of ligand-protected metal nanoclusters. The inclusion of silver ions in a platinum-thiolate complex led to a significant increase in photoluminescent quantum yield. DFT calculations showed that LUMO, with contributions from Ag s-orbital and Pt d-orbitals, played a critical role in suppressing structural distortion in the excited state.

Chiral Recognition by Flexible Coordination Polymers of Ag+ with a Cysteine-Based Chiral Thiol Ligand That Bears a Binding Site

Su-Li Dong et al.

Summary: A new method for chiral recognition using coordination polymers of Ag+ with a chiral thiol ligand that contains a binding group is reported, showing excellent selectivity. The research demonstrates that a conformation change occurs upon interaction of a saccharide molecule with the polymeric chain receptor, promoting the next binding and leading to highly effective chiral recognition.

Nanosphere [Ag(SR)]n: coordination polymers of Ag+ with a combination of hydrophilic and hydrophobic thiols

Yan Xu et al.

Summary: Coordination polymers of Ag+ can be used to create nanospheres in aqueous solutions, with a diameter of approximately 2.7 nm when using cysteine and n-butanethiol. The formation of nanospheres is indicated by a reversal and amplification of the CD signal at 253 nm when both cysteine and n-BuSH are used together.
