Thickness optimization and the effect of different hole transport materials on methylammonium tin iodide (CH3NH3SnI3)-based perovskite solar cell

Tanzir Ahamed et al.

Summary: This paper investigates an alternative solution of tin-based perovskite solar cell with a glass substrate/FTO/TiO2/CH3NH3SnI3/HTM/back contact configuration. The effects of thickness optimization of perovskite and hole transport material (HTM) on overall power conversion efficiency (PCE) are observed. The impact of the hole transport layer (HTL) with characteristics such as bandgap and hole mobilities on the PCE with five different HTMs is studied using a numerical model. It is found that inorganic HTMs, such as CuI and Cu2O, exhibit better PCE compared to organic materials Spiro-OMeTAD and PEDOT:PSS. CuI achieves the highest PCE of 21.0% as an HTM.

Fabrication and characterization of natural dye-sensitized solar cells based on tin sulfide nanoparticles

Chandan Rana et al.

Summary: In this study, pure SnS, Fe-doped SnS, and Mn-doped SnS were successfully synthesized using the wet chemical precipitation technique. Doping influences crystal size of SnS NPs, with Mn-doped SnS exhibiting the lowest bandgap energy. Natural dye-sensitized solar cells were fabricated using Acalypha wilkesiana leaf extract as a photosensitizer, aiming to create low cost yet efficient solar cells.

Substituents interplay in piperidinyl-perylenediimide as dopant-free hole-selective layer for perovskite solar cells fabrication

David Payno et al.

Summary: The charge selective layer is crucial for the fabrication of emerging photovoltaics, with molecular hole transport materials being employed for charge transport. The energetic level of PDIs can be altered by the position of the substituent, affecting the geometry of the core and potential application as a hole-selective layer. New design protocols for PDIs are needed to align energetic levels and improve performance in solar cells.

Valorization of pomegranate peel balls as bioadsorbents of methylene blue in aqueous media

Radhia Msaadi et al.

Summary: Pomegranate peel balls were evaluated as bioadsorbents for the removal of methylene blue dye from aqueous solutions. The adsorption followed pseudo-second order kinetics and the maximum adsorption capacity varied with temperature, with physical adsorption being the primary mechanism. The waste generated by pomegranate peel could be considered for future water filtration and environmental protection in countries where pomegranates are available.
