Fate of the upper polariton: Breakdown of the quasiparticle picture in the continuum br

Yesenia A. Garcia Jomaso et al.

Summary: Organic polaritons, which are hybridized light-matter excitations, can be used as a platform for optical interfaces at room temperature. Previous studies have described polaritons as coherent excitations according to Landau's quasiparticle theory. However, this study reveals the role of incoherent matter excitations and demonstrates the breakdown of the quasiparticle picture at the entrance of upper polaritons into a continuum of molecular excitations. This leads to the formation of a more complex quantum state beyond Landau's formalism.

Quantum Electrodynamics in a Topological Waveguide

Eunjong Kim et al.

Summary: Designing the energy-momentum relation of photons is crucial in optical phenomena and a new set of light-matter properties can be achieved by utilizing the topology of the photonic bath. This work experimentally investigates the properties of superconducting qubits coupled to a metamaterial waveguide based on a photonic analog of the Su-Schrieffer-Heeger model, exploring topologically induced properties and enabling direct quantum control over topological edge states in finite waveguide systems. The study demonstrates the potential of topological waveguide-QED systems in synthesizing and studying many-body states with exotic long-range quantum correlations.

Perovskite polariton parametric oscillator

Jinqi Wu et al.

Summary: This study reports a low-threshold on-chip perovskite polariton parametric oscillator, which utilizes polariton-polariton interactions to achieve a signal close to the ground state at room temperature. This polaritonic system combines photons with excitons, exhibiting enhanced optical nonlinearity for highly nonlinear operations with low power consumption.

Optical switching of topological phase in a perovskite polariton lattice

Rui Su et al.

Summary: The research demonstrated a room temperature exciton polariton topological insulator and proved that polarization can be used as a degree of freedom to switch between different topological phases, showing strong immunity to perturbations. The study also showed that exciton polaritons can condense into topological edge states under optical pumping, providing an ideal platform for active topological polaritonic devices operating under ambient conditions.
