Vapor Isotope Probing of Typhoons Invading the Taiwan Region in 2016

Sourendra K. Bhattacharya et al.

Summary: This study analyzes the impact of isotopic ratios evolution in typhoon vapor on regional weather, and proposes an evolution model based on Rayleigh condensation and moisture mixing to explain this variation. The results show that typhoon size and precipitation efficiency are two important parameters causing a decrease in ratio.

Persistence of moist plumes from overshooting convection in the Asian monsoon anticyclone

Sergey M. Khaykin et al.

Summary: This study uses unique observations to investigate the formation and maintenance of lower stratosphere water vapor in the Asian monsoon anticyclone region. The research reveals the dual role of overshooting convection in the anticyclone, which can lead to both hydration and dehydration. The findings highlight the importance of convection and recirculation in transporting water vapor into the stratosphere.

Stable isotope record of super typhoon Lekima (2019)

Guangyao Wang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the complex variations in stable isotope ratios in water vapor and rainfall during a super typhoon, showing the influences of convection intensity, moisture convergence, and rain evaporation. After the typhoon, dry continental air masses and subsidence lead to a significant decrease in both water vapor content and delta D values in the study region.

Improved high-resolution global and regionalized isoscapes of δ18O, δ2H and d-excess in precipitation

Stefan Terzer-Wassmuth et al.

Summary: Patterns of delta O-18 and delta H-2 in Earth's precipitation are vital for various scientific researches. The Regionalized Cluster-Based Water Isotope Prediction model (RCWIP2) has improved prediction accuracy by incorporating new data and coupling delta O-18 and delta H-2. The improved isoscape grids and maps are available for free download.

The Boreal Summer Intraseasonal Oscillation (BSISO): A Review

Kazuyoshi Kikuchi

Summary: The boreal summer intraseasonal oscillation (BSISO) is a significant subseasonal variability in the tropics during boreal summer, exerting a strong effect on tropical weather and climate phenomena. Despite advances in understanding and theory, the ability to simulate BSISO using general circulation models remains unsatisfactory.

The role of dew and radiation fog inputs in the local water cycling of a temperate grassland during dry spells in central Europe

Yafei Li et al.

Summary: During dry spells, non-rainfall water (NRW) composed of dew and fog becomes increasingly important in temperate grassland ecosystems under global warming. Stable isotopes serve as tracers to investigate NRW input pathways and the complexity of local water cycles involving dew and radiation fog.
