Hydrothermally synthesized N and S co-doped mesoporous carbon microspheres from poplar powder for supercapacitors with enhanced performance

Summary: N and S co-doped mesoporous carbon microspheres were successfully prepared using poplar powder and L-cysteine as precursors. The as-prepared microspheres exhibit globular carbon with a variety of sizes and relatively high specific surface areas. XPS analysis reveals that the microspheres are rich in nitrogen and sulfur functional groups. Electrochemical testing shows that the co-doped microspheres have higher specific capacitance due to reduced internal resistance and increased specific surface area.

Porous nanoframes of sulfurized NiAl layered double hydroxides and ternary bismuth cerium sulfide for supercapacitor electrodes

Summary: Manipulating the structure of electroactive materials with hierarchical frameworks can boost the electrochemical properties. This study presents a facile and economical technique to develop hierarchical nanoframes-like sulfurized nickel aluminum (sulfurized NiAl) as a positive electrode material and ternary bismuth cerium sulfide (Bi-Ce-S) as the negative electrode material for constructing an aqueous asymmetric supercapacitor system. The hierarchical architectures with well-developed pores and hollow spaces can greatly reduce the ion penetration distances and promote the electron transport rates, resulting in enhanced electrochemical performance.

Summary: A selective and sensitive electrochemical sensor was used to detect the concentration of Tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA) in water. The sensor was constructed by dropping molecularly imprinted polymer onto MXene and Au nanoparticle modified glassy carbon electrode. Experimental results showed that the sensor exhibited a good linear relationship to the concentration of TBBPA with a low detection limit.
