The O/S heteroatom effects of covalent triazine frameworks for photocatalytic hydrogen evolution

Manying Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, S/O heterocyclic covalent triazine frameworks (CTFs i.e., CTF-7 and CTF-8) were synthesized using thiophene and furan as building blocks. It was found that sulfur heteroatoms in CTFs are more favorable for charge separation than oxygen heteroatoms, leading to a higher hydrogen evolution rate of CTF-7 compared to CTF-8. This work offers a guiding principle for designing high efficiency photocatalyst structures.

Decoration of 1,3,5-triazine backbone structure with dibenzofuran and triphenylsilyl blocking groups for high stability n-type host in deep blue phosphorescent organic light-emitting diodes

Eui Gun Lee et al.

Summary: The study focused on the development of triazine derivatives as n-type hosts in deep blue PhOLEDs, with the synthesis of two hosts containing different blocking groups. The number of triphenylsilyl units was found to be critical to the device lifetime, and introducing two bulky groups was shown to have positive effects on increasing device lifetime.

Covalent Triazine Frameworks as Emerging Heterogeneous Photocatalysts

Zhuangfei Qian et al.

Summary: This review summarizes the recent developments in Covalent triazine frameworks (CTFs) as a new class of visible light-active, metal-free, and polymer-based heterogeneous photocatalysts. It discusses various physical and chemical design strategies for morphology, band structure, charge separation, and transfer optimization that directly impact their photocatalytic efficiency, with emphasis on enhancing and maximizing the efficiency for specific applications.

A biorefinery approach to obtain antioxidants, lignin and sugars from exhausted olive pomace

Irene Gomez-Cruz et al.

Summary: In this study, exhausted olive pomace (EOP) was fractionated into valuable components, including an aqueous extract rich in hydroxytyrosol and mannitol and lignins with antioxidant properties. An organosolv lignin (OL) with higher total phenolic content and antioxidant activity than other lignins was obtained through pretreatment and extraction of EOP. Chemical differences were observed that could explain the superior performance of OL.

Efficiently Selective Oxidation of H2S to Elemental Sulfur over Covalent Triazine Framework Catalysts

Wen-Li Peng et al.

Summary: The covalent triazine framework catalyst efficiently oxidizes H2S to sulfur with abundant nitrogen structural base sites and micro-mesoporous structures, showing good activity at ambient conditions. This design could enhance the development of more active and robust nitrogen-doped carbon catalysts.

High Performance Li Metal Anode Enabled by Robust Covalent Triazine Framework-Based Protective Layer

Yuxin Zheng et al.

Summary: This work demonstrates the rational coating of a flexible and conformal CTF-LiI coating on the Li metal surface to stabilize metallic Li, which leads to a uniform, dense, and dendrite-free electrodeposition process and effectively suppresses side reactions between metallic Li and electrolyte. This advancement shows a significant progress towards large-scalable and long-cycling stable Li metal batteries.
