Trend of myopia through different interventions from 2010 to 2050: Findings from Eastern Chinese student surveillance study

Xiyan Zhang et al.

Summary: The purpose of this study is to investigate the utilization rate and effect of proven myopic interventions, and predict the prevalence of myopia and high myopia in Eastern China from 2010 to 2050 under different interventions. The results show that the implementation of timely, steady, and comprehensive interventions can greatly decrease the overall number of myopic people.

High myopia and macular vascular density: an optical coherence tomography angiography study

Yang Jiang et al.

Summary: The study compared macular vascular density between patients with high-myopia and non-high myopia using OCTA. Results showed that vascular densities in the superficial and deep retinal layers of the macula were significantly higher in non-high myopia patients compared to high-myopia patients, while no differences were observed in the choriocapillaris layer.

Evaluation of retinal vascular density and related factors in youth myopia without maculopathy using OCTA

Tiantian Wang et al.

Summary: The study found that both superficial and deep retinal vascular densities were significantly decreased in individuals with high myopia, while the peripapillary flow density inside the disc increased. Axial length was negatively correlated with retinal vascular density, while the spherical equivalent of the refractive error was negatively correlated with central retinal vascular density.

Acircularity and circularity indexes of the foveal avascular zone in high myopia

Helong Piao et al.

Summary: This study explored the association between foveal avascular zone (FAZ) parameters and high myopia using optical coherence tomography angiography. The researchers found significant differences in FAZ parameters between highly myopic eyes and non-highly myopic eyes, with FAZ areas strongly correlated with acircularity and circularity indexes in the high myopia group. Further research is needed to determine if these findings are linked to disease development in highly myopic eyes.

Macular Vessel Density Changes in Young Adults With High Myopia: A Longitudinal Study

Ya Shi et al.

Summary: The study found that young myopes experienced a significant decrease in macular vessel density after a 21-month follow-up, with high myopes showing a faster reduction in global and specific sector density. A longer baseline axial length was associated with greater changes in macular vessel density.
