Comprehensive Identification of Driving Style Based on Vehicle's Driving Cycle Recognition

Kaichong Liang et al.

Summary: A comprehensive driving style identification model based on driving cycle recognition is proposed in this study. The model utilizes characteristic parameters of the driving cycle and style, as well as principal component analysis (PCA) to minimize the dimensions of collected data. A two-stage clustering algorithm and artificial neural network (ANN) are then used to build the model. Bench and real vehicle tests confirm the accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed model.

Analysis of the impact of maximum platoon size of CAVs on mixed traffic flow: An analytical and simulation method

Zhihong Yao et al.

Summary: This paper analyzes the characteristics of mixed traffic flow with a maximum platoon size of connected automated vehicles (CAVs) using analytical and simulation methods. It discusses the various types of car-following and headway in mixed traffic flows with human-driven vehicles (HDVs), connected human-driven vehicles (CHVs), automated vehicles (AVs), and CAVs. The results show that increasing the maximum platoon size of CAVs improves traffic capacity but worsens stability, safety, fuel consumption, and emissions in mixed traffic flow.

Vishal C. Kummetha et al.

Summary: Mathematical models are used to describe behavioral variability in driving, with car-following being the primary focus. This research aimed to incorporate driver behavioral variability into the intelligent driver model (IDM) by combining driving variables and continuous biobehavioral variables. Factors such as distracted driving and the use of group-level traits were also explored. The framework was validated using a simulator and found to enhance the IDM's accuracy in car-following.

Summary: The management of an ambulance fleet is crucial for saving as many injured individuals as possible during disastrous situations. This study proposes a mixed-integer linear programming model to optimize the sequence of routes for each ambulance and minimize the service completion time and the number of patients whose condition worsens due to untimely medical services. Non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm II and multi-objective particle swarm optimization are used to find high-quality solutions in a short time. A case study in Lorestan province, Iran, is conducted to assess the model's performance and provide insightful managerial suggestions.

Summary: Car-following control is a fundamental application of autonomous driving and Model Predictive Control (MPC) is a powerful method for this. However, determining the optimal weight factors for MPC is not straightforward. To solve this, we proposed an automatic tuning method based on personal driving data, which reduces the effort and time required for engineers.

Improving car-following model to capture unobserved driver heterogeneity and following distance features in fog condition

Yan Huang et al.

Summary: The paper aims to develop an improved Fog-related Intelligent Driver Model (FIDM) that takes into account unobserved driver heterogeneity to reproduce drivers' car-following behavior features in fog condition. Experimental results showed that unobserved driver heterogeneity increased as fog density decreased, and average following distance increased with decreased fog density and increased speed limit. The proposed FIDM performed better in reproducing unobserved driver heterogeneity and average following distance compared to current car-following models.

Analysis of linear internal stability for mixed traffic flow of connected and automated vehicles considering multiple influencing factors

Ruifa Luo et al.

Summary: This paper studies the stability of mixed traffic flow in a non-fully connected and automated vehicles (CAVs) environment, considering factors such as time delay, platooning intensity, and CAVs degradations. By analyzing vehicle types, discussing time delays, and determining the proportions under the influence of platooning intensity, the linear internal stability condition of mixed traffic flow is derived. The results show that CAV penetration rates and platooning intensity contribute to maintaining traffic flow stability, while CAVs degradations and time delay have a negative impact.
