An umpolung strategy for rapid access to thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) materials based on phenazine

Huaxing Zhang et al.

Summary: The regioselective intramolecular radical nucleophilic addition/rearrangement of 2-aryl diazaboroles promoted by Ag(I) has been achieved for the first time to construct phenazine structures. This novel protocol, based on a reversed regioselectivity mechanism, allows the preparation of sterically hindered phenazines, which exhibit emission bands from green to red with high quantum yields and moderate fluorescence lifetimes as solid films.

Chiral Photocatalyst Structures in Asymmetric Photochemical Synthesis

Matthew J. Genzink et al.

Summary: Asymmetric photocatalysis is a major research topic in contemporary synthetic organic chemistry. However, the discovery of general strategies for highly enantioselective photochemical reactions has been a recent development, leading to a somewhat limited variety of stereocontrolled photoreactions. This review summarizes the chiral catalyst structures that have been studied for solution-phase asymmetric photochemistry, providing insight into the logic required for highly effective stereocontrolled photocatalysis.

Transition-metal-free regioselective hydroamination of styrenes with amino-heteroarenes

Priyanka Meena et al.

Summary: The base-mediated anti-Markovnikov hydroamination of functionally varied styrenes with amino-substituted pyridine, quinoline, pyrimidine, pyrazine, and phenanthridine with excellent regioselectivity has been described. Double hydroamination was observed chemoselectively on the secondary amine, leaving the primary amine intact. Experimental evidence suggests that the proposed reaction involves the nucleophilic addition of the aminopyridyl radical onto vinyl arenes via a single electron transfer.

Electrochemical radical-radical cross-coupling: direct access to β-amino nitriles from unactivated imines and alkyl nitriles

Wei-Mei Zeng et al.

Summary: In this article, a novel method for the synthesis of beta-amino nitriles from unactivated imines and alkyl nitriles using electrochemical radical-radical cross-coupling is described. The reaction is atom- and step-economical as it utilizes abundant and inexpensive alkyl nitriles without the need for pre-functionalization. This synthetic strategy provides a green, mild, and efficient approach to construct beta-amino nitrile derivatives.

Selective Oxidation of Anilines to Azobenzenes and Azoxybenzenes by a Molecular Mo Oxide Catalyst

Sheng Han et al.

Summary: The study reported a molybdenum oxide compound catalyzed selective oxidation of anilines with hydrogen peroxide as green oxidant, leading to the synthesis of aromatic azo compounds. The use of stoichiometric metal oxidants was avoided and fully selective synthesis of products was achieved. Preliminary mechanistic investigations suggested the intermediacy of highly active reactive and elusive Mo imido complexes.

Base-Mediated Anti-Markovnikov Hydroamidation of Vinyl Arenes with Arylamides

Ayushee et al.

Summary: A base-promoted protocol was investigated for the intermolecular anti-Markovnikov hydroamidation of vinyl arenes, leading to the formation of arylethylbenzamides with excellent chemo- and regioselectivity. The reaction demonstrated high chemoselectivity for the amide group over amine and tolerance towards a wide variety of functional groups. The proposed mechanism and the importance of the solvent were supported by deuterium labeling studies and control experiments.
