The magnetic proximity effect at the MoS2/CrI3 interface

Zhi-Bo Yin et al.

Summary: Proximity to a two-dimensional magnetic material can effectively break the valley degeneracy of transition-metal dichalcogenides. By manipulating vertical electric fields, a significant valley splitting effect can be achieved, leading to changes in the band structure of the material. Additionally, the interlayer distance has a significant influence on the valley splitting. This study is important for understanding the magnetic proximity effect in van der Waals heterostructures.

Magnetic proximity effect induced spin splitting in two-dimensional antimonene/Fe3GeTe2 van der Waals heterostructures

Xiuya Su et al.

Summary: In this study, the spin-polarized electronic structures of antimonene/Fe3GeTe2 vdW heterostructures were investigated using first-principles calculations. The results showed that the spin splitting can be modulated by applying an external electric field, changing interlayer distance, or changing stacking configuration. The study enriches the fundamental understanding of the magnetic proximity effect in two-dimensional vdW heterostructures.

Signatures of superconducting triplet pairing in Ni-Ga-bilayer junctions

Andreas Costa et al.

Summary: The competition between ferromagnetic and superconducting phases in Ni-Ga bilayers has been explored using experimental and theoretical approaches. Thin Ni-Ga bilayers exhibit different transport properties compared to thicker bilayers, showcasing conductance shoulders that can serve as experimental signatures of induced triplet pairings. Additional measurements confirm the presence of nonuniform magnetization in the Ga layer and support the existence of induced triplet superconductivity. Overall, the study suggests the potential of Ni-Ga bilayers in superconducting-spintronics applications.

Multifunctional two-dimensional van der Waals Janus magnet Cr-based dichalcogenide halides

Yusheng Hou et al.

Summary: Two-dimensional van der Waals Janus materials and their heterostructures have the potential to design various functionalities. In this study, high T-C ferromagnetic semiconductors with out-of-plane magnetization were found in CrSX (X = Cl, Br, I) through systematic first-principles studies. Furthermore, large-gap quantum anomalous Hall effect and sizable valley splitting can be achieved in van der Waals heterostructures CrSBr/Bi2Se3/CrSBr and MoTe2/CrSBr, respectively, through the magnetic proximity effect. Additionally, skyrmion states were observed in CrTeX (X = Cl, Br, I) under external magnetic fields due to large Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interactions. The multifunctionalities of two-dimensional Janus magnet Cr-based dichalcogenide halides in topological electronic and valleytronic devices were demonstrated.

First-principles study of the superconductivity in LaO

Pei-Han Sun et al.

Summary: The study found that the superconducting pairing in LaO belongs to the BCS type, with the heavy La atoms' electrons and phonons playing a major role in electron-phonon coupling. Biaxial tensile strain and pure electron doping can enhance the superconducting Tc of LaO, and with synergistic effect, Tc can be even higher. Additionally, superconductivity in LaO thin film remains down to the trilayer thickness with a Tc of 1.4 K.

Coexistence of superconductivity and spin-splitting fields in superconductor/ferromagnetic insulator bilayers of arbitrary thickness

Alberto Hijano et al.

Summary: The research focuses on the spin splitting phenomenon in ferromagnetic insulator/superconductor bilayers and its significance for superconducting spintronics and Majorana fermion realization. The study determines the impact of the thickness of the superconductor layer on the magnitude of spin splitting, as well as the range of parameters suitable for coexisting exchange field and superconductivity. By comparing theory with experimental results, the accuracy and importance of the theory are confirmed.
