Sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS)-assisted preparation of homogeneous monodisperse MnCO3 microspheres and its application to the synthesis of LiMn2O4

Shuai Xie et al.

Summary: In this study, homogeneous monodisperse manganese carbonate (MnCO3) microspheres were synthesized using a co-precipitation method and their dispersion characteristics were investigated using different surfactants. The results showed that the addition of anionic surfactant SDS enabled the synthesis of MnCO3 microspheres with superior tap density. Furthermore, LiMn2O4 cathode material synthesized using spherical MnCO3 as a template exhibited excellent electrochemical performance.

A novel photoluminescence phenomenon in a SrMoO4/SrWO4 micro/nano heterojunction phosphors obtained by the polyacrylamide gel method combined with low temperature calcination technology

Huajing Gao et al.

Summary: The polyacrylamide gel method combined with low temperature calcination technology was used to synthesize SrMoO4/SrWO4 micro/nano heterojunction phosphors with excellent photoluminescence properties. The study found that SrMoO4 and SrWO4 formed a special interface contact, generating a large number of oxygen vacancies, which enhanced the photoluminescence properties of the material.

Enhancement of intrinsic green emission in phase pure ZnO

V. Sivakumar et al.

Summary: In this study, phase pure wurtzite structured ZnO phosphor was prepared by sintering different precursors at various temperatures in a reducing atmosphere. The structural information confirmed the wurtzite hexagonal phase, with SEM showing irregular spherical morphology and EDAX spectrum confirming the presence of Zn and O species. The study also observed deep-level green emission for ZnO samples sintered without impurities in reducing atmosphere, with optimal photoluminescence properties achieved at 900°C and 1000°C sintering temperatures under 380 nm excitation.

Nanostructured biological hydroxyapatite from Tilapia bone: A pathway to control crystallite size and crystallinity

Henrique Borba Modolon et al.

Summary: Hydroxyapatite is the main mineral component of bones and has a wide range of applications. Studies have shown the ability to synthesize it from different sources, but controlled crystallite size and crystallinity research is limited. This study evaluates the effects of heat treatment temperature and high energy milling time on obtaining nanometric hydroxyapatite from a natural source.

Effect of preparation techniques on BaWO4: structural, morphological, optical and electron density distribution analysis

D. Sivaganesh et al.

Summary: The crystallographic structure, optical behavior, morphology, and electronic charge distributions of scheelite BaWO4 materials prepared by co-precipitation and molten salt method were studied. Micron-sized rock-like structured BaWO4 particles were obtained, exhibiting intense blue emission peak at 430 nm when excited at 375 nm. The synthesized material showed high intense blue emission attributed to the intrinsic transitions of [WO4](2-) tetrahedrons.

Surfactant assisted approach to development of efficient WO3 photoanode for natural dye sensitized solar cell

Satish S. Patil et al.

Summary: In this study, a surfactant-assisted WO3 photoanode for DSSC was successfully designed using a single-step hydrothermal route. The surfactant's influence on the growth and photoresponse properties of dye-sensitized WO3 was investigated. The results showed improved photovoltaic performance, with a direct allowed type of electronic transition and a band gap energy ranging from 2.82 to 2.38 eV. The formation of pure hexagonal crystals and tuning in surface morphology from nanospheres to nanoflowers were also observed.

Phase evolution and photoluminescence behavior of MMoO4 (M = Mg, Ca, Sr) phosphors

Huajing Gao et al.

Summary: Self-activating MMoO4 (M = Mg, Ca, Sr) phosphors were successfully synthesized using a polyacrylamide gel method with citric acid as a chelating agent. The study systematically examined the phase evolution, crystal structure, surface morphology, color, and photoluminescent properties of MgMoO4, CaMoO4, and SrMoO4 phosphors. The results showed that the phase formation temperature of MMoO4 decreases with the increase of M ion radius, while their morphologies and photoluminescence properties vary.
