Positive Airway Pressure Adherence, Mortality, and Cardiovascular Events in Patients with Sleep Apnea

Chloe Gerves-Pinquie et al.

Summary: In real-life clinical data, there is a dose-response relationship between positive airway pressure (PAP) therapy and cardiovascular risk in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Increasing PAP adherence may help improve cardiovascular outcomes in OSA patients.

EU-CaRE study: Could exercise-based cardiac telerehabilitation also be cost-effective in elderly?

M. Scherrenberg et al.

Summary: The study found that a 6-month home-based mobile CR programme is a safe and effective alternative for elderly cardiac patients who decline participation in traditional rehabilitation programmes to improve cardiorespiratory fitness. However, adherence to the programme significantly impacts the cost-effectiveness of the intervention. Future research should focus on increasing patient adherence and implementing comprehensive home-based mobile CR programmes in standard care.

CPAP Therapy Termination Rates by OSA Phenotype: A French Nationwide Database Analysis

Jean-Louis Pepin et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the long-term CPAP termination rates in sleep apnea patients using nationwide claims data, finding that factors such as age, sex, and comorbidities were associated with higher CPAP termination risk. Comorbidities have a significant influence on patients' long-term CPAP continuation.

Mask side-effects in long-term CPAP-patients impact adherence and sleepiness: the InterfaceVent real-life study

Marie-Caroline Rotty et al.

Summary: In patients receiving long-term CPAP treatment, leak-related side-effects remain the most prevalent, although patient-reported leaks cannot be predicted by CPAP-reported leaks. Patient-reported mask-related side-effects may independently impact CPAP non-adherence and excessive sleepiness.
