Decoration and utilization of a special class of metal-organic frameworks containing the fluorine moiety

Sandeep Kumar et al.

Summary: Fluorinated organic molecules, known for their chemical stability and low electric polarizability, have had a significant impact on material chemistry through their use in synthesizing coordination compounds, such as metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). These fluorinated MOFs (FMOFs) offer unique properties, including hydrophobicity, electron-dense pore environments, and high chemical and aqueous stability, making them suitable for applications such as gas adsorption/separation, hydrocarbon adsorption/separation, catalysis, and sensing of small molecules. The review explores the synthesis strategies, characteristics, and diverse applications of FMOFs.

UoC-3: A Metal-Organic Framework with an Anionic Framework Based on Uranyl UO22+ Nodes and Partly Fluorinated Benzene-1,3,5-Tribenzoate Linkers

Ronja Christoffels et al.

Summary: The reaction of UO2(NO3)(2)·6H(2)O with partially fluorinated H-3-3F-BTB in DMF leads to the formation of a new metal-organic framework UoC-3, which exhibits high porosity and crystallinity. Different organic cations did not show templating effect on the synthesis of this MOF. UoC-3 was successful in removing approximately 96% of radioactive Cs-137(+) from aqueous solutions.
