Permselectivity of ionene-based, Aemion® anion exchange membranes

Apurva Shantilal Gangrade et al.

Summary: This work investigates the permselectivity and transport properties of an ionene-based anion exchange membrane, finding that thicker membranes exhibit higher permselectivity and fixed charge group concentration, leading to better performance. The permselectivity and specific area conductivity of Aemion AEMs were determined by their fixed charge group concentration, with the AF1-HNN5-50 membrane showing comparable performance to the common anion exchange membrane Selemion AMV.

Poly(vinylbenzyl Pyridinium Salts) as Novel Sorbents for Hazardous Metals Ions Removal

Karolina Wieszczycka et al.

Summary: Efficient complexing resins, poly(vinylbenzyl pyridinium salts), were synthesized and demonstrated proficient removal capacities for Pb(II), Cd(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), and Ni(II) ions from aqueous solutions. The structure and properties of the resins were characterized, and their adsorption behavior was found to be influenced by various factors. The Langmuir model was the best fit for describing the adsorption equilibrium, and the resin showed high adsorption capacities for the metal ions. Furthermore, the resin could be successfully regenerated without significant loss of its adsorption capacity.

Towards the development of new generation of ion exchange membranes for reverse electrodialysis: A review

Muhammad Nidzhom Zainol Abidin et al.

Summary: This article provides a systematic review and evaluation of the development of ion exchange membranes (IEMs) for reverse electrodialysis (RED) systems. It discusses the demand for alternative membranes and the feasibility of different preparation methods, as well as the power output of newly designed membranes. The challenges in developing IEMs that meet the criteria for enhancing RED performance are also identified, and future research directions are outlined.
