N3LO+N3LL QCD improved Higgs pair cross sections

A. H. Ajjath et al.

Summary: We present a new calculation of the soft-gluon threshold resummation for Higgs boson pair production in the dominant gluon-gluon fusion mode up to the next-to-next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic ((NLL)-L-3) accuracy. By matching (NLL)-L-3 to the next-to-next-to-next-to-leading order ((NLO)-L-3) QCD calculation in the infinite top quark mass approximation, we find that the inclusive cross sections are stable with respect to (NLO)-L-3 and the scale uncertainties are reduced by a factor of two, reaching subpercent level. Our study confirms the good asymptotic perturbative convergence. We provide advanced predictions for the inclusive total cross sections and differential invariant mass distributions of Higgs pair by combining with the full top-quark mass dependent next-to-leading order QCD results.

Search for new phenomena in three- or four-lepton events in pp collisions at √s=13 TeV with the ATLAS detector

G. Aad et al.

Summary: This study presents a search for physics beyond the Standard Model in events with three or four charged leptons using data from the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The analysis divides the 3l and 4l phase space into 22 event categories and reports upper limits for all signal regions in terms of visible cross-section, but no statistically significant deviations from the Standard Model predictions are observed.

Summary: This study presents a search for the pair production of heavy leptons predicted by the type-III seesaw mechanism using data recorded by the ATLAS detector during Run 2 of the Large Hadron Collider. The results show no significant excess over the Standard Model expectation, setting exclusion limits on heavy-lepton masses with a lower limit on the mass of the type-III seesaw heavy leptons at 790GeV at 95% confidence level.

Grand Unified Origin of Gauge Interactions and Families Replication in the Standard Model

Antonio P. Morais et al.

Summary: This work explores how the basic distinctive properties of the Standard Model dynamically emerge from a unified New Physics framework incorporating flavor physics and Grand Unified Theory concepts. One of the most appealing emergent properties of this theory is the Higgs-matter unification, with a highly constrained massless chiral sector featuring two universal Yukawa couplings close to the Grand Unified Theory scale. The minimal SM-like effective field theory limit of this GUT at the electroweak scale represents a specific flavored three-Higgs doublet model consistent with observed large hierarchies in quark mass spectra and mixing at tree level.

Majorana neutrinos in same-sign W±W± scattering at the LHC: Breaking the TeV barrier

Benjamin Fuks et al.

Summary: This study revisits the sensitivity to heavy Majorana neutrinos in same-sign W+W+ scattering at the LHC, showing that a simple collider analysis can achieve remarkable signal-background separation power for detecting heavy neutrinos in a specific mass range. The (WW +/-)-W-+/- scattering channel greatly extends the mass range covered by current LHC searches for heavy Majorana neutrinos and adds invaluable sensitivity above a few hundred GeV. There is potential for improvement in the analysis and the applicability to other tests of neutrino mass models.

New CTEQ global analysis of quantum chromodynamics with high-precision data from the LHC

Tie-Jiun Hou et al.

Summary: The new parton distribution functions (PDFs) from the CTEQ-TEA collaboration are determined using a wide variety of high-precision Large Hadron Collider (LHC) data, in addition to other datasets. These PDFs are analyzed at next-to-leading order and next-to-next-to-leading order, with error sets determined using the Hessian method. The data sensitivity and preference towards quantities such as α(s)(m(Z)), and the gluon and strange quark distributions are quantified using fast PDF survey techniques.
