Logistics mode strategy of firms selling fresh products on e-commerce platforms with private brand introduction

Yuqiu Xu et al.

Summary: The decision problem for firms selling fresh products on e-commerce platforms is to choose between platform logistics and third-party logistics (TPL) for their third-party stores. The introduction of platform private brands of fresh products affects firms' operation strategies. Four theoretical models are constructed to explore the optimal logistics mode strategy and the impacts of platform private brand introduction. The main results show that the optimal logistics mode strategy depends on the platform logistics cost and the service level difference between platform logistics and TPL. Furthermore, introducing platform private brands increases firms' willingness to adopt TPL.

Direct selling, agent selling, or dual-format selling: Electronic channel configuration considering channel competition and platform service

Cuihua Zhang et al.

Summary: The study establishes three-stage sequential game models to investigate a manufacturer's electronic channel configuration strategy from the perspective of both the manufacturer and the whole supply chain. The main innovation lies in involving three different electronic channel structures and incorporating key factors such as cross-channel effect, channel competition, and platform service. Through sensitivity analysis and numerical examples, it is found that channel competition intensity and transaction fee impact factor are critical to determining channel configuration.
