Mechanistic investigation of RhB photodegradation under low power visible LEDs using a Pd-modified TiO2/Bi2O3 photocatalyst: Experimental and DFT studies

Shankar Sharma et al.

Summary: An energy efficient hydrothermal route was used to synthesize binary TiO2/Bi2O3, followed by a chemical method to prepare novel ternary TiO2/Bi2O3/Pd nanocomposites. The resulting composites showed improved characteristics and high activity towards the degradation of RhB under visible LED irradiation, even after cyclic experiments. Scavenger studies revealed the active species responsible for RhB removal, making the synthesized composites promising for low power consuming photoreactors in water purification systems.

High activity of ZnFe2O4 nanoparticles for photodegradation of crystal violet dye solution in the presence of sunlight

Hossein Bayahia

Summary: Pure MFe2O4 (M = Co, Zn, Cu and Ni) photocatalysts were successfully prepared using the co-precipitation oxidation method. Among them, ZnFe2O4 exhibited the highest photocatalytic degradation performance due to its smallest particle sizes and wide distribution. The photocatalytic degradation process was influenced by factors such as the Zn/Fe ratio, catalyst loadings, and calcination temperature.

Advanced dye removal by multifunctional layered double hydroxide based materials: Adsorption and kinetic studies

Milica S. Hadnadjev-Kostic et al.

Summary: This study investigates the adsorption behavior of bimetal and trimetal adsorbents on methyl orange and explores the relationship between their adsorption properties and structural, textural properties. The results show that these adsorbents have high removal efficiency, especially Zn-containing mixed oxides, which achieve complete decolorization almost instantly due to the interaction between adsorbent and adsorbate. Two possible adsorption mechanisms initiated by interfacial phenomena are found to be correlated with the structural and textural properties as well as the "memory effect" reconstruction phenomenon.
