Energetic, economic, and greenhouse gas emissions assessment of biomass and solar photovoltaic systems for an industrial facility

Jamsheed Sajid et al.

Summary: This study evaluates the feasibility and comparative analysis of on-site solar photovoltaic (PV) and biomass-fed boilers for a rice processing industrial plant to reduce dependence on grid-supplied electricity and coal-fired boiler. The results show that biomass-based rice husk fuel is the most suitable renewable energy source for this facility, which can significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Optimization of parabolic trough based concentrated solar power plant for energy export from Saudi Arabia

Muhammad Zubair et al.

Summary: The optimization of the parabolic trough based concentrated solar power system for solar energy export from Saudi Arabia to Asian and European countries has been analyzed. By selling electrical energy generated during peak load hours, the system aims to reduce the customers' load factor and keep the capital cost minimum. A high voltage direct current transmission system is employed for exporting 2 GW solar energy by PT based CSP system transmitted through bipolar 660 kV HVDC transmission line.
