Quality of life in sinonasal tumors: an up-to-date review

Vanessa Jane Chow et al.

Summary: This review assesses the impact of benign and malignant sinonasal tumors on patients' quality of life and their management. Endoscopic surgical management is found to be effective, but it is not clear how much it translates to better quality of life outcomes. Patients with benign tumors have better quality of life compared to those with malignancy due to absence of adjuvant radiotherapy and/or chemotherapy. Various patient-reported outcome measures have been used, with a combination of disease-specific and generic health outcome measures providing the most insight into quality of life of patients with sinonasal tumors. Quality of life seems to undergo a bimodal impact, with an initial dip after surgical treatment followed by a slow improvement over time.

Summary: Fine-needle biopsy (FNB) is an important tool for evaluating thyroid nodules.
