Baryogenesis, primordial black holes and MHz-GHz gravitational waves

Thomas C. Gehrman et al.

Summary: Gravitational waves in the MHz-GHz frequency range are motivated by various phenomena in the early Universe, including oscillons, preheating, and cosmic strings. This study points out that baryogenesis can also serve as a motivation to study gravitational waves within this frequency range. The connection is through primordial black holes (PBHs), which induce baryogenesis through Hawking radiation and also induce gravitational waves through the effects of scalar fluctuations. The results emphasize the importance of probing the ultra high frequency gravitational wave frontier.

Threshold of primordial black hole formation against velocity dispersion in matter-dominated era

Tomohiro Harada et al.

Summary: We study the effects of velocity dispersion on the formation of primordial black holes (PBHs) in a matter-dominated era. The velocity dispersion is generated through the nonlinear growth of perturbations and has the potential to impede the gravitational collapse and thereby the formation of PBHs. We estimate the effect of the velocity dispersion on the PBH formation by comparing the free-fall timescale and the timescale for a particle to cross the collapsing region.

Cosmic Coincidences of Primordial-Black-Hole Dark Matter

Yi-Peng Wu et al.

Summary: If primordial black holes contribute more than 10% of the dark matter density, their energy density could be of the same order as baryons, suggesting a mutual origin. Baryogenesis can be triggered by a sharp transition in the rolling rate of inflaton, leading to large curvature perturbations for the formation of primordial black holes in single-field inflationary models. This requirement leads to potentially observable regimes for the contribution of primordial black holes to dark matter, the inferred mass range, the stochastic gravitational wave background frequency window, and the amplitude of the associated cosmic microwave background tensor-to-scalar ratio.

Primordial Black Holes and a Common Origin of Baryons and Dark Matter

Juan Garcia-Bellido et al.

Summary: The proposed scenario suggests that the gravitational collapse of large inhomogeneities during the quark-hadron epoch generates both the baryon asymmetry and most of the dark matter in the form of primordial black holes. This scenario naturally explains the observed relationship between BAU and PBH collapse fraction, as well as the comparable densities of baryons and dark matter.

Discretely Charged Dark Matter in Inflation Models Based on Holographic Space-Time

Tom Banks et al.

Summary: By modifying the holographic space-time inflation model, researchers propose a new model for dark matter, where a fraction of inflationary black holes are assumed to carry the smallest value of a discrete symmetry charge. The determination of this fraction is based on the requirement that the crossover temperature between radiation and matter domination is met, leading to an extremely small value.

Primordial black holes from an electroweak phase transition

Summary: We propose a mechanism for the formation of PBHs through FOEWPT by introducing a real singlet scalar in the Standard Model, and the formation of PBHs is achieved through the collapse of Fermi-balls. The experimental signals include FOEWPT gravitational waves and multilepton/jet or displaced vertex final states at the LHC.

Summary: This paper presents a scenario in which primordial black holes formed in the early universe, explaining the comparable densities of baryons and dark matter, as well as the anthropic selection effect associated with the existence of galaxies. Several observational predictions of the scenario are identified that could be tested in the next few years.

Primordial Black Holes from Long-Range Scalar Forces and Scalar Radiative Cooling

Marcos M. Flores et al.

Summary: This study introduces a new scenario for the formation of primordial black holes, where long-range forces mediated by scalar fields lead to the formation of heavy particle halos that collapse into black holes. The model explains the abundance and mass function of PBHs, as well as the connection between dark-sector particles and dark matter PBHs. Additionally, the model predicts a small contribution to the number of effective light degrees of freedom, which can help reconcile different measurements of the Hubble constant.

Summary: In this article, constraints on the fraction of the Universe that may have gone into primordial black holes (PBHs) over a range of masses are updated. The discussion covers the reasons why PBHs smaller than a certain mass threshold are constrained and the various constraints on PBHs larger than that threshold.

Precision calculation of dark radiation from spinning primordial black holes and early matter-dominated eras

Alexandre Arbey et al.

Summary: This article presents precision calculations of dark radiation from spinning primordial black holes (PBHs) in the early Universe, including extended spin distributions, PBH reheating temperature, and relativistic degrees of freedom. Comparisons with existing literature show constraints on PBHs from dark radiation, with projections from CMB Stage 4 experiments. Results indicate that CMB Stage 4 experiments will probe all PBH masses up to 10^9 grams, as well as PBHs with monochromatic spins a* > 0.81.
