Entanglement Barrier and its Symmetry Resolution: Theory and Experimental Observation

Aniket Rath et al.

Summary: The operator entanglement (OE) is a key quantifier of the complexity of a reduced density matrix. By performing a new data analysis of experimental results, we obtain the first experimental estimation of the OE in a quantum many-body system. The obtained OE displays the expected entanglement barrier in large systems.

Symmetry-resolved dynamical purification in synthetic quantum matter

Vittorio Vitale et al.

Summary: A study shows that symmetry-resolved information spreading is inhibited by the competition of coherent and incoherent dynamics in the presence of continuous symmetries and under ubiquitous experimental conditions. The entropy decreases as a function of time in certain quantum number sectors, indicating dynamical purification. Dynamical purification bridges between two distinct short and intermediate time regimes, characterized by log-volume and log-area entropy laws.

Entanglement Estimation in Tensor Network States via Sampling

Noa Feldman et al.

Summary: We introduce a method for extracting meaningful entanglement measures of tensor network states in general dimensions. The method involves stochastic sampling of matrix elements to calculate their moments, providing Renyi entropies and negativities. The method is tested on the one-dimensional critical XX chain and the two-dimensional toric code, showing satisfactory results.

Many-Body Quantum Magic

Zi-Wen Liu et al.

Summary: Understanding and studying the magic in quantum computation and physics is essential to comprehend quantum complexity. This study examines the magic in strongly entangled many-body quantum states, particularly in systems with multiple qubits. The research finds that the maximum magic of an n-qubit state is closely related to the number of qubits, and nearly all pure n-qubit states have magic values close to n. The analysis also connects the magic of hypergraph states with the nonlinearity of Boolean functions and applies the concept of magic to measurement-based quantum computation and condensed matter systems.

Symmetry-resolved entanglement entropy in Wess-Zumino-Witten models

Pasquale Calabrese et al.

Summary: Through a thorough analysis of Wess-Zumino-Witten models, we find that in theories with a non-abelian symmetry, the Renyi entanglement entropy is equally distributed among different sectors at leading order, with a leading term breaking this equipartition depending only on the dimension of the representation. Additionally, a log log L contribution exhibits a universal prefactor equal to half the dimension of the Lie group.

Symmetry-resolved entanglement detection using partial transpose moments

Antoine Neven et al.

Summary: We present a set of experimentally accessible conditions for detecting entanglement in mixed states, involving comparing moments of the partially transposed density operator up to a certain order, and find that the union of all moment inequalities can reproduce the Peres-Horodecki criterion. Our studies show that the first four conditions are already reliable in detecting mixed state entanglement in various quantum architectures, and exploiting symmetries can further enhance detection capabilities. We also demonstrate how to estimate moment inequalities based on local random measurements of single state copies and derive statistically sound confidence intervals as the number of measurements increases. Our analysis includes the experimentally relevant situation of drifting sources, i.e. non-identical, but independent, state copies.

Observing Floquet topological order by symmetry resolution

Daniel Azses et al.

Summary: Symmetry-protected topological order in one dimension leads to protected degeneracies between symmetry blocks of the reduced density matrix. In the presence of periodic driving, topological Floquet phases can be identified in terms of a cycling of these symmetry blocks between different charge quantum numbers. By adiabatically moving along the phase diagram, we demonstrate that the cycling periodicity is broken in Floquet topological phase transitions. An equivalent signature of the topological Floquet phase is identified as a computational power allowing for the teleportation of quantum information.
