How do phytogenic iron oxide nanoparticles drive redox reactions to reduce cadmium availability in a flooded paddy soil?

Jiajiang Lin et al.

Summary: The addition of phytogenic iron oxide nanoparticles reduced the availability of cadmium in flooded soil and decreased its uptake by rice plants. Microbial community shifts were observed with an increase in certain bacteria and a decrease in others after the application of phytogenic iron oxide nanoparticles. Overall, this study provides valuable insights into a potential low-cost remediation strategy for cadmium-contaminated paddy soils.

Polylactic Acid (PLA) Biocomposite: Processing, Additive Manufacturing and Advanced Applications

R. A. Ilyas et al.

Summary: Research into bio-polymers, specifically focusing on polylactic acid (PLA), has gained momentum in recent years due to concerns about resource depletion and pollution. Natural fiber-reinforced PLA composites have been explored as alternatives to petroleum-based materials, with an emphasis on the type of fiber used in the matrix adhesion and their mechanical properties. Additionally, the current state of natural fiber-reinforced PLA 3D printing and their functions in stimuli-responsive polymers for 4D printing applications have also been discussed in this study.
