High efficient vanadium extraction from vanadium slag using an enhanced acid leaching-coprecipitation process

Pengcheng Hu et al.

Summary: In this research, a two-stage leaching process was proposed to extract vanadium efficiently from the by-product of vanadium titanium magnetite BOF steelmaking process, vanadium slag (VS). The total leaching efficiency of vanadium can reach as high as 98.52% by sodium roasting-water leaching for VS and sulfuric acid leaching for water leaching residue (WLR). The mechanism analysis indicates that the structures of wrapping phases and spinel can be effectively destroyed by acid leaching, releasing vanadium in WLR.

Study on the Properties of Vanadium Pellets Extracted from Vanadium Titanium Magnetite Concentrate by Calcium Roasting and Acid Leaching

Yang Li et al.

Summary: This study proposes a clean pellet production method using calcium roasting and sulfuric acid leaching to extract vanadium from vanadium and titanium magnetite concentrates. The method effectively separates vanadium and iron, and the pellets after acid leaching and vanadium extraction can be used as raw material for iron making after secondary roasting. The experiments showed a vanadium leaching rate of 74.51% and an iron leaching rate of only 1.05% under the optimum conditions. The process allows for the comprehensive utilization of vanadium and titanium magnetite and has guiding significance for industrial production.

Efficient Recovery of Vanadium from High-Chromium Vanadium Slag with Calcium-Roasting Acidic Leaching

Hao Peng et al.

Summary: High-chromium vanadium slag (HCVS) is an important by-product in the smelting process of high-chromium-vanadium-titanium-magnetite. In this study, direct acid leaching and calcium-roasting acid leaching were used to recover vanadium and chromium from HCVS. The experimental parameters, including H2SO4 concentration, reaction temperature, reaction time, and liquid-to-solid ratio, were investigated. The results showed that only a small percentage of chromium could be leached out, while calcium-roasting technology significantly increased the leaching efficiency of vanadium.

Clean and efficient extraction of vanadium from vanadium slag: Effect of manganese on the phase composition and vanadium extraction process

Jing Wen et al.

Summary: Manganese in vanadium slag plays a crucial role and has an impact on the phase of vanadium slag and the synergistic effects during the roasting process. By altering the MnO content, the lattice structure of spinel and olivine in vanadium slag can be modified, leading to different leaching rates of vanadium.

Extraction of vanadium from low-vanadium grade magnetite concentrate pellets with sodium salt

Shuhui Zhang et al.

Summary: This study focused on extracting vanadium from low-vanadium grade magnetite concentrate pellets using sodium salt, achieving a high extraction rate under optimal conditions. The research found that part of trivalent vanadium was not completely oxidized during the sodium salt roasting process. By optimizing the sodium salt roasting parameters, the production efficiency of vanadium extraction can be significantly improved.
