Antibacterial Potential of Bacopa monnieri (L.) Wettst. and Its Bioactive Molecules against Uropathogens-An In Silico Study to Identify Potential Lead Molecule(s) for the Development of New Drugs to Treat Urinary Tract Infections

Jyoti Mehta et al.

Summary: This study investigated the potential antibacterial effects of Bacopa monnieri leaf extract and its bioactive molecules on urinary tract infections (UTIs) caused by Klebsiella pneumoniae and Proteus mirabilis. The results showed that the extract exhibited significant inhibition against the pathogens, particularly with the presence of Oroxindin. This research provides new insights into the treatment of UTIs and highlights the potential of B. monnieri as a source for future drug development.

Antimicrobial activity of Rhus Coriaria L. and Salvia Urmiensis bunge against some food-borne pathogens and identification of active components using molecular networking and docking analyses

Maryam Ghane et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the antibacterial activity of methanol extracts from Rhus coriaria L. and Salvia urmiensis Bunge against food-borne pathogens. The extracts showed antibacterial activity, with sumac exhibiting the highest activity against Staphylococcus aureus. Phytochemical analysis identified flavonoids as the main compounds in the extracts. Molecular docking analysis demonstrated that glycosylated flavonoids had a strong binding affinity to the target enzymes. This study confirmed the efficacy of sumac and S. urmiensis extracts as natural antimicrobial agents.
