Experimental study on the super-hydrophobic coating performance for solar photovoltaic modules at different wind directions

Hao Lu et al.

Summary: Currently, the development of solar photovoltaic power generation technology is advancing rapidly worldwide in order to achieve carbon neutrality. The deposition of dust on solar photovoltaic modules is a major factor in the decline of power generation efficiency. While there have been numerous outdoor experiments and simulations investigating the factors affecting dust deposition, there is a lack of research conducted in an indoor setting and into the impact of wind direction. This paper presents three indoor wind tunnel experiments that evaluate the performance of super-hydrophobic coatings, considering wind speed, tilt angle, and wind direction. The results demonstrate that the use of super-hydrophobic coatings can significantly reduce dust deposition and improve photoelectric conversion efficiency.

Characteristics and cleaning methods of dust deposition on solar photovoltaic modules-A review

Beihua He et al.

Summary: Carbon neutrality is a global consensus for green development, and solar photovoltaic power generation is increasingly one of the key technologies for carbon reduction. Dust deposition on photovoltaic modules in large-scale solar power plants in arid and sandy areas significantly affects their efficiency and service life. This paper summarizes relevant research worldwide, the mechanism and influencing factors of dust deposition on photovoltaic modules, current cleaning methods, and the development of self-cleaning coatings. It also highlights the importance of further research on particle deposition and cleaning methods on photovoltaic modules.

3D CFD modelling of dust deposition characteristics and influences on building-mounted photovoltaic system

Hantao Peng et al.

Summary: This study investigates the characteristics of dust deposition on building-integrated photovoltaic panels and analyzes its influence on photovoltaic efficiency. The research findings show that dust size, wind velocity, and building roof inclination all have significant effects on the dust deposition rate. The study also reveals that the photovoltaic efficiency reduction is considerably higher with increasing dust size.

Investigation of the Dust Scaling Behaviour on Solar Photovoltaic Panels

Xueqing Liu et al.

Summary: Solar PV panels are often affected by dust accumulation, which can significantly decrease their efficiency. This study investigates the appearance, phase composition, formation, evolution, and effects of dust particles on PV panels. The dust particles on the panels primarily originate from industrial products and urban pollutants, leading to decreased transmittance and increased dust pollution levels.

Comparison of different simplistic prediction models for forecasting PV power output: Assessment with experimental measurements

Meng Wang et al.

Summary: This study tested the energy outputs of different types of PV modules and evaluated the accuracies of different simplistic PV module power prediction models. Results showed that mono-Si PV module had the highest annual energy outputs per unit area, while a-Si PV modules had the lowest. The one-diode model demonstrated the highest accuracy for mono-Si and poly-Si PV modules.
