Synthesis and Electrochemical Investigation of Hetero Bimetallic Complexes CoMn2O4 Micro Rods for Novel Supercapacitor Electrode

M. Murugesan et al.

Summary: In this study, cobalt manganese oxide (CoMn2O4) was synthesized via a simple hydrothermal method and its performance was analyzed. The results showed that CoMn2O4 exhibited pseudo capacitive behavior and had good cycling stability. An asymmetric supercapacitor device was fabricated using CoMn2O4 parallel to activated carbon, which demonstrated a high energy density at a current density of 1 mA.

A review on progress and perspective of molecular catalysis in photoelectrochemical reduction of CO2

Neha Nandal et al.

Summary: The increasing concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere has adverse effects on climate due to excessive greenhouse effect, making utilization of CO2 for chemical production and fuel a promising and environmentally friendly approach. Alternative techniques like photocatalytic, electrocatalytic, and photo-electrocatalytic reduction of CO2 are considered technically feasible, economically viable, and environmentally friendly. Photoelectrocatalytic reduction of CO2 is particularly important as it combines the advantages of photocatalysis and electrocatalysis, utilizing renewable solar energy with higher conversion efficiency.

Macromolecular Rhenium-Ruthenium Complexes for Photocatalytic CO2 Conversion: From Catalytic Lewis Pair Polymerization to Well-Defined Poly(vinyl bipyridine)-Metal Complexes

Anton S. Maier et al.

Summary: Herein, the first catalytical polymerization of 4-vinyl-4'-methyl-2,2'-bipyridine (VBpy) via Lewis pair-mediated group-transfer polymerization using different combinations of Lewis acidic trialkyl aluminum compounds and Lewis basic phosphines is reported. In this context, a broad screening of different Lewis pairs is conducted, demonstrating the necessity of an adjustment of the steric and electronic properties of the Lewis pair to the demands of the monomer. End-group analysis reveals two initiation pathways, and the well-defined polymers are loaded with metal complexes for photocatalytic CO2 reduction experiments. The results show high photostabilities and activities for PVBpy(5/95) due to efficient electron transfer between the metals attached to the macromolecular ligand.

The Puzzling Question about the Origin of the Second Electron in the Molecular Photocatalytic Reduction of CO2

Christopher Thomas et al.

Summary: The new supramolecular photocatalyst RuRe3 shows high activity and photostability in reducing CO2 to CO. The efficient second electron transfer mechanism and intermolecular electron transfer contribute to the superior performance of this tetranuclear complex. Further studies on these synergistic effects could lead to the design and synthesis of new and efficient supramolecular CO2-reducing photocatalysts.

Bai-Hao Ren et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the basis for the high enantioselectivity and activity of multichiral bimetallic catalysts using experimental observations and theoretical calculations. The results showed that ligand exchange and the opening of the ring were crucial steps for the reaction, and the flexibility of the bimetallic complex played a significant role in achieving high enantioselectivity.

Ligand-Controlled Csp2-H versus Csp3-H Bond Formation in Cycloplatinated Complexes: A Joint Experimental and Theoretical Mechanistic Investigation

Zahra Farasat et al.

Summary: This study investigated the reactivity of cyclometalated platinum(II) complexes with different acids, revealing that the selectivity of the reaction can be influenced by the nature of the ancillary ligand, potentially affecting the cleavage of Pt-C bond. Computational discussions and experimental results suggested that a one-step electrophilic attack at the Pt-C bond is the most likely mechanism for these complexes, with the potential to change the selectivity in Pt-C bond cleavage.

The role of dinuclearity in promoting thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) in cyclometallated, N∧C∧N-coordinated platinum(ii) complexes

Piotr Pander et al.

Summary: Through synthesis and analysis, we have discovered a di-Pt(ii) complex that exhibits dual luminescent behavior and activates thermally activated delayed fluorescence. Compared with the mono-Pt(ii) analogue, the di-Pt(ii) complex has a larger singlet radiative rate constant, a smaller singlet-triplet energy gap, and a longer phosphorescence decay lifetime. This bimetallic structure promotes conditions favorable for TADF, showcasing high efficiency in emitting near infrared electroluminescence.
