Muon anomalous magnetic moment with staggered fermions: Is the lattice spacing small enough?

Christopher Aubin et al.

Summary: In this study, we extend previous work on the light-quark connected part of the muon anomalous magnetic moment using staggered fermions. By collecting more statistical data and adding new configurations, we are able to reduce errors and correct the results using chiral perturbation theory. We discuss the applicability of this theory to short- and intermediate-distance window quantities and emphasize the need for further high-statistics computations.

Leading hadronic contribution to the muon magnetic moment from lattice QCD

Sz. Borsanyi et al.

Summary: The standard model of particle physics describes the majority of experiments and observations involving elementary particles, with a long-standing discrepancy concerning the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon. Ongoing experiments aim to reduce measurement errors, theoretically attributed to the leading-order hadronic vacuum polarization contribution, to distinguish between experimental measurements and predictions. The developed methods using ab initio quantum chromodynamics and quantum electrodynamics simulations favor experimentally measured values over those obtained using dispersion methods, with potential for increased precision as computer technology advances.

Lattice calculation of pion form factors with overlap fermions

Gen Wang et al.

Summary: By utilizing overlap fermions, we conducted a precise calculation of the pion form factor, finding a mean square charge radius consistent with experimental results. This result takes into account systematic uncertainties such as chiral extrapolation, lattice spacing, and finite-volume dependence. Additionally, we observed a strong dependence of the pion form factor on both valence and sea quark masses, predicting results up to Q(2) = 1.0 GeV2 that align well with experimental findings.

Field sparsening for the construction of the correlation functions in lattice QCD

Yuan Li et al.

Summary: Two field-sparsening methods, the sparse-grid method and the random field selection method, are utilized in this study to construct 2-point and 3-point correlation functions in lattice QCD. By summing over a subset of lattice sites due to high correlation among different field points, computational time can be significantly saved. The reduction in field points for point-source and Gaussian-smeared operators leads to only a slight increase in uncertainties of the correlators, allowing for approaching the precision of ail-to-all correlators with modest computational resources cost.
