Experimental study of the influence of different hole-forming methods on the bearing characteristics of post-grouting pile in Loess Areas

Zhijun Zhou et al.

Summary: This study investigates the bearing characteristics of different types of cast-in-place piles, with or without grouting, in a bridge construction in Wuqi-Dingbian Expressway. The results show that impact drilling piles have the largest ultimate bearing capacity after grouting, while manual digging piles have the smallest increase in bearing capacity.

Experimental study on cyclic settlement of piles in silt soil and its application in high-speed railway design

Yunmin Chen et al.

Summary: The study investigated the behavior of piles in soft soils under combined monotonic and cyclic loading through model tests, identifying the ratio of cyclic load to ultimate bearing capacity and the ratio of monotonic load to ultimate bearing capacity as key factors influencing pile settlement. A chart was proposed to distinguish settlement trends based on these ratios, and an analytical model was developed to predict cyclic pile settlement under large cyclic loads. The study also demonstrated the application of these findings in the design of piled embankments for high-speed railways.

Study on the vertical bearing performance of pile across cave and sensitivity of three parameters

Hui Yun Chen et al.

Summary: A new method was used to study the performance of pile across cave, revealing that increasing the height, span, and number of caves are all negative for vertical ultimate bearing capacity of piles. This study shows that the sensitivity of vertical ultimate bearing capacity to these factors from high to low is height, number, and span of caves.
