However, relying on traditional unclean energy resources can have adverse environmental consequences. Therefore, achieving environmental sustainability is crucial for these countries. This study explores the impact of improving energy efficiency, promoting renewable electricity production, and enhancing financial inclusivity on reducing carbon dioxide emissions in the Next Eleven countries. The findings suggest that energy efficiency improvement and a higher share of renewable electricity in total electricity production can mitigate carbon dioxide emissions in the long run, while financial inclusion, economic growth, and international trade are found to increase emissions. Additionally, the study reveals that energy efficiency and financial inclusion together have inhibiting effects on emissions, and this relationship is mediated and moderated by energy efficiency. These findings hold true when alternative estimation techniques and total greenhouse gas emissions are considered. The study recommends relevant policies related to environmental sustainability for the governments of the Next Eleven countries.

The two-stage factors driving changes in China's industrial SO2 emission intensity: A production-theoretical decomposition analysis

The Impact of Government Official Assessment on Ecological Poverty Alleviation: Evidence from Chinese Listed Companies

Summary: This paper examines whether the assessment of government officials promotes enterprises' participation in ecological poverty alleviation based on the Chinese government's policy of poverty alleviation assessment. The empirical test using Chinese A-share listed companies from 2016 to 2020 shows that the higher the importance of poverty alleviation assessment, the more likely local enterprises are to participate in targeted poverty alleviation and invest at a higher level. Additionally, it is found that enterprise participation in ecological poverty alleviation can effectively improve the local ecological environment.
