Safety, Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics of Spectrum Yellow Oil in Healthy Participants

Erica N. Peters et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics (PK), and pharmacodynamics (PD) of Spectrum Yellow oil, a cannabis product used for medical purposes. The results showed that Spectrum Yellow oil had good safety and tolerability at appropriate doses, with steady-state plasma CBD concentrations reached within 7 days.

Cannabidiol (CBD) Dosing: Plasma Pharmacokinetics and Effects on Accumulation in Skeletal Muscle, Liver and Adipose Tissue

Robert B. Child et al.

Summary: This study investigated the pharmacokinetics and tissue accumulation of orally consumed CBD in adult rats. The results showed that CBD levels were higher in adipose tissue compared to liver and muscle, and there was a moderate correlation between CBD levels in adipose and muscle tissue. CBD feeding also resulted in gender-specific effects and alterations in pharmacokinetics.

Sex differences in the acute effects of oral and vaporized cannabis among healthy adults

Dennis J. Sholler et al.

Summary: Research comparing the acute effects of oral and vaporized cannabis in occasional users found that females exhibited stronger drug effects in some aspects, especially when controlling for body weight. Recommendations include starting with lower doses for females and being aware of potential acute anxiogenic reactions when using cannabinoids.

Cytochrome P450-Catalyzed Metabolism of Cannabidiol to the Active Metabolite 7-Hydroxy-Cannabidiol

Jessica L. Beers et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that both CYP2C19 and CYP2C9 play important roles in CBD metabolism to the active metabolite 7-OH-CBD, while CYP3A4 contributes significantly to CBD metabolism through pathways other than 7-hydroxylation. Formation of 7-OH-CBD is correlated with human liver microsomal CYP2C19 activity, but not CYP2C19 genotype, and CYP2C9 was found to have a significant contribution to 7-OH-CBD generation.
