Photoluminescence in Cerium-Doped Fluoride Borate Crystals

Talgat M. Inerbaev et al.

Summary: In this study, the electronic and optical properties of Ce-containing LBBF structures with different doping sites were modeled. The presence of F-centers and their trap states within the band gap were considered. Nonadiabatic excited state electronic dynamics were investigated to understand the electron-relaxation pathways. Transition probabilities facilitated by nuclear movement were calculated using nonadiabatic couplings. The relaxation rates of electrons and holes were calculated using Redfield's theory. PL spectra were calculated using molecular dynamics sampling and time-integrated methods based on NACs. The mechanisms of PL in LBBF:Ce3+ crystals were interpreted through computational and experimental observations.

Blue luminescent properties of Ce3+/Gd3+ co-doped NaBaBO3 phosphors

Shuang Lu et al.

Summary: Ce3+ and Gd3+ co-doped NaBaBO3 blue luminescent materials were synthesized via solid-state reaction. The crystal structure, surface morphology, and luminous properties were analyzed using X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectrometer, and fluorescence spectrometer. Ce3+/Gd3+ co-doped NaBaBO3 phosphors could absorb near-ultraviolet light and emit bright blue light centered at 430 nm, originating from the 5d-4f transition of Ce3+ ion. The optimized doping concentrations of Ce3+ and Gd3+ were 1% and 3% respectively, resulting in the highest luminous intensity and a short decay time of about 23 ns. The addition of Gd3+ enhanced the luminescence intensity of Ce3+ doped NaBaBO3, with CIE color coordinates of (0.1564, 0.0909). Ce3+/Gd3+ co-doped NaBaBO3 powders show promise for applications in WLEDs and scintillators.

Energy transfer from Tb3+ to Eu3+ in LiSrY2(BO3)3: Candidates for UV or NUV excited color tunable phosphors

Yuxuan Qi et al.

Summary: In this study, Tb3+ and Tb3+/Eu3+ were doped into the borate host LiSrY2(BO3)3 to achieve color-tunable emissions through energy transfer. Powder XRD confirmed the phase purity and showed a linear dependence of lattice parameters on doping contents, while the local symmetry-broken characteristic of rare earth cation was observed.

Structure and luminescence properties of Bi3+-doped ZrSiO4 phosphors for near-UV excited white LEDs

Ming Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, ZrSiO4:Bi3+ phosphors were synthesized using the conventional high-temperature solid-phase method, and their structural and optical properties were investigated. The results showed that Bi2O3 played a role in the phase generation, and ZrSiO4:Bi3+ exhibited a broad emission band centered at 548 nm under excitation at 361 nm. The optimized Bi3+ doping concentration was found to be 4 mol%, and the luminescence intensity of ZrSiO4:0.04Bi3+ remained at 84% of the room temperature value at 150 degrees C. These findings suggest that ZrSiO4:Bi3+ phosphors have potential in near-UV excited white LED applications.

Energy transfer properties of a single-phase Na3Gd(PO4)2:Eu2+,Mn2+ phosphor with excellent thermal stability for w-LEDs

Meiling Xie et al.

Summary: A high temperature solid state method was used to prepare Na3Gd(PO4)(2):Eu2+,Mn2+ phosphors with good thermal stability. The phosphor exhibits a wide excitation range and shows blue, white, and red light emission under different Mn2+ doping levels. The prepared phosphors also demonstrate good thermal stability and can be considered as potential candidates for UV/NUV light-excited w-LED applications.

Terbium Ion-Mediated Energy Transfer in WO3:Tb3+ and Eu3+ Phosphors for UV-Sensitized White Light Emission

Chandresh Kumar Rastogi et al.

Summary: Incorporating suitable lanthanide ions into semiconducting WO3 enables host-sensitized luminescence for solid-state lighting applications. Codoping with additional lanthanide ions assists in transferring energy to produce bright luminescence based on the electronic structure of the doped system. The role of Tb3+ ions as a sensitizer to facilitate emission from Eu3+ ions has been investigated, leading to the development of a white-light-emitting phosphor with optimized doping concentrations.
