Y and Al co-doped ZnO-nanopowder based ultrasensitive trace ethanol sensor: A potential breath analyzer for fatty liver disease and drunken driving detection

Subhajit Mojumder et al.

Summary: This study presents a highly sensitive and selective Al and Y co-doped ZnO nanopowder sensor for detecting trace ethanol in exhaled breath. The sensor exhibits rapid response and recovery time, good repeatability, and long-term stability, as well as excellent selectivity towards ethanol. It has the potential to be used for detecting liver problems and for breathalyzer testing in cases of drunken driving.

Progress in the Study of Vortex Pinning Centers in High-Temperature Superconducting Films

Jian Zhang et al.

Summary: This review provides an overview of recent progress in enhancing superconductivity by introducing nanoscale vortex pinning centers, focusing on the comprehensive control of morphology, dimension, orientation, and concentration of artificial pinning centers (APCs) and the principle of vortex pinning. The literature suggests that HTSs with the best superconductivity can be obtained when one-dimensional (1D) and three-dimensional (3D) nanoscale APCs are combined for vortex pinning.

Quality optimization of Bi2212 films prepared by aqueous solvent sol-gel method with nonionic surfactants

Bowen Zhang et al.

Summary: Bi2212 films were successfully prepared using the sol-gel method with different surfactants. The results showed that all surfactant sol-gel systems resulted in flat and continuous c-axis epitaxial Bi2212 films. TX-100 and AEO-9 as surfactants exhibited higher wettability for the sol-gel on both substrates.

Growth of Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ thin films with enhanced superconducting properties by incorporating NiO nanoparticles

Xingming Zhao et al.

Summary: A series of Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+delta-xNiO (x = 0.0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4 and 0.5) thin films were prepared by Pechini sol-gel method. The doping of NiO affected the microstructure and superconducting properties of the thin films samples. The XRD patterns showed excellent c-axis epitaxial growth of the samples. Both Bi2212 matrix and NiO phase exhibited in-plane four-axis symmetry.

Structural and Electrical Properties of Nanosized Sm2O3 Doped Bi1.6Pb0.4Sr2Ca2Cu3Oy Superconductors

Ozlem Bilgili

Summary: In this study, Bi(1.6)Pb(0.4)Sr(2)Ca(2)Cu(3)Oy superconductor samples doped with nanosized samarium oxide were synthesized and characterized. XRD, SEM, and EDX analysis revealed that the volume fraction of Bi-2223 phase was highest at x = 0.05 addition, with decreased grain size. Superconducting transition temperatures increased with Sm content x = 0.05, but decreased with further addition amount.
