Revisiting Two-tower Models for Unbiased Learning to Rank

Le Yan et al.

Summary: Two-tower architecture is commonly used in Unbiased Learning to Rank (ULTR) systems. However, existing models often assume that the joint distribution of relevance prediction and observation probabilities can be completely factorized, which may not hold in real-world user behaviors and lead to failure. This work revisits two-tower models and proposes novel ideas that consider a wider spectrum of user behaviors while still maintaining simplicity and generalizability. The effectiveness of our proposed methods is validated on controlled synthetic and large-scale real-world datasets.

Cross-Positional Attention for Debiasing Clicks

Honglei Zhuang et al.

Summary: The paper proposes a data-driven neural model XPA to address examination bias, which is more flexible in adapting to complex user behaviors and can be used in arbitrary user interfaces. Experiments show that XPA is robust across different click generation processes and outperforms baselines in large-scale real-world recommender systems.

A Graph-Enhanced Click Model for Web Search

Jianghao Lin et al.

Summary: This study introduces a novel graph-enhanced click model (GraphCM) to address data sparsity and cold-start issues in web search. By constructing homogeneous graphs and utilizing graph neural networks, GraphCM not only excels in predicting user behaviors but also demonstrates superior performance in experiments.
