Co-pyrolysis of chitin with nitrogen carriers: Kinetics, product characterization and bio-oil analysis

Jia Liu et al.

Summary: A new strategy for the co-pyrolysis of chitin and nitrogen carriers to produce nitrogen-rich bio-oil and biochar was proposed in this study. Four different nitrogen carriers were selected and their effects on the thermal behavior and product distribution were characterized. The results showed that the addition of nitrogen carriers promoted the production of amines, with glutamate having the most significant inhibitory effect on volatile gases. The study expands the boundaries of high-value utilization of chitin.
