Porous Ag3VO4/KIT-6 composite: Synthesis, characterization and enhanced photocatalytic performance for degradation of Congo Red

Iqra Mahboob et al.

Summary: A novel Ag3VO4/KIT-6 nanocomposite photocatalyst with high surface area and visible light response has been successfully fabricated. The nanocomposite exhibited superior degradation capability for Congo Red, reaching up to 96.49%, which was around three times the pure Ag3VO4. The synthesized material followed a pseudo first order kinetic model for the degradation process. The study also investigated the commercial applicability and proposed a possible degradation pathway for Congo Red.

Montmorillonite-Supported BiVO4 nanocomposite: Synthesis, interface characteristics and enhanced photocatalytic activity for Dye-contaminated wastewater

Parveen Akhter et al.

Summary: Textile effluents are harmful to human health and the environment. To mitigate these hazards, researchers have been developing environmentally friendly technologies to degrade synthetic dyes. This study prepared a Montmorillonite (MMT) supported BiVO4 nanocomposite using the sol-gel method for photocatalytic degradation of Brilliant Red 80 dye. The composite showed a narrow bandgap and strong light absorption in the visible range, resulting in significantly higher degradation efficiency compared to conventional BiVO4.

An atmospheric pressure glow discharge in air stabilized by a magnetic field and its application on nitrogen fixation

ZhiYu Li et al.

Summary: A magnetic field-stabilized atmospheric pressure glow discharge is reported, which allows for stable discharge and independent control of plasma parameters. Compared to the widely used gliding arc discharge, the plasma stabilized by magnetic field can more effectively treat gases and has a lower energy cost for NOx production.

Dye wastewater degradation by the synergetic effect of an atmospheric pressure plasma treatment and the photocatalytic activity of plasma-functionalized Cu-TiO2 nanoparticles

K. Navaneetha Pandiyaraj et al.

Summary: This study investigated the photocatalytic activity of plasma-functionalized Cu-doped TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) for the degradation of reactive red-198 (RR-198) in aqueous solution. The plasma treatments on Cu-TiO2 NPs induced changes in their physicochemical properties, leading to improved degradation efficiency. The combination of Ar plasma treatment and N-2 plasma-treated NPs showed the highest efficiency in RR-198 degradation, indicating potential applications in various industries for effluent treatment.

External axial magnetic field enhances discharge and water treatment of cold plasma jets

Han Xu et al.

Summary: In this study, the impact of an external axial magnetic field on helium plasma jet and plasma-activated water was investigated. It was found that the external magnetic field significantly enhances the brightness and length of the ionization wave of the plasma jet, while also increasing the concentration of reactive oxygen species in water. Additionally, the vitality of melanoma cells decreases under the influence of the magnetic field. The findings suggest that the external magnetic field could be beneficial in improving the effectiveness of plasma jet applications.
