Soil Test-Based Optimum Integrated Plant Nutrient Supply for Attaining Targeted Yield of Finger Millet in Mollisols of Northern India

Ayushi et al.

Summary: The study focused on developing fertilizer recommendation equation for finger millet crop based on soil test crop response approach. Results showed that finger millet responded better to nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers when integrated with farm yard manure application, leading to savings in fertilizer inputs compared to NPK alone. The study also highlighted the importance of considering soil fertility levels when deciding nutrient inputs for optimum crop yield.

Simultaneous assessment of nitrogen and water status in winter wheat using hyperspectral and thermal sensors

J. L. Pancorbo et al.

Summary: Remote sensing technology is a valuable tool for reducing environmental impact in agriculture by detecting crop nitrogen and water status. This study evaluated the potential of visible and infrared hyperspectral and thermal imaging sensors to assess nitrogen and water status with reduced confounding effects. The combination of spectral and thermal information improved the adjustment of N fertilization and irrigation to crop requirements.
