Calibration method of laser scanning measurement system for large-scale component using a free-form surface reconstruction model

Rongrui Gu et al.

Summary: A novel calibration method is proposed in this paper for large-scale scanning measurement based on the free-form surface reconstruction model. The Non-Uniform Rational B-Splines (NURBS) surface is approximated from high-precision measurement points using the least-squares method. The deviation between the measurement points and reference model is defined by statistical results and represented by the standard deviation of the distances.

Optimization of 3-D Pose Measurement Method Based on Binocular Vision

Yangjie Wei et al.

Summary: This article presents an optimization method based on binocular vision for accurate and stable 3-D pose measurement in practical environments. The method improves the accuracy and speed of existing binocular vision methods by introducing a guide-point definition, an optimal path-searching method, a distance-based adaptive-filtering method, an adaptive-sampling method, and a target surface model based on a hash table. Experimental results show high accuracy and stability compared to traditional point-cloud registration algorithms, indicating great potential in unstructured environments.

Assessment and Improvement of Distance Measurement Accuracy for Time-of-Flight Cameras

Valens Frangez et al.

Summary: This study investigates the deviations of distance measurements in high-end phase-based depth cameras and proposes a method to reduce these biases based on experimental data. The results show that the response to external temperature varies among cameras, but the distance biases are similar. The study also demonstrates the potential for batch error compensation.
